RECURSOS EN EL PROCESO PENAL
RECURSO DE APELACIÓN DE SENTENCIA PENAL: Son apelables todas las sentencias y los sobreseimientos dictados en la fase de juicio y que resuelven los aspectos penales, civiles, incidentales y demás que la ley determina permitirá el examen integral del fallo, cuando la parte interesada alegue inconformidad con la determinación de los hechos, la incorporación y valoración de la prueba, la fundamentación jurídica o la fijación de la pena.
RECURSOSDE CASACIÓN DE SENTENCIA PENAL: Procederá contra las resoluciones dictadas por los tribunales de apelación de sentencia cuando se alegue la existencia de precedentes contradictorios o cuando la sentencia inobserve o aplique erróneamente un precepto legal sustantivo o procesal.
PROCEDIMIENTO DE REVISIÓN DE SENTENCIA PENAL : La revisión es contra las sentencias firmes y a favor del condenado: cuando los hechos tenidos en la condena resulten inconciliables con los establecidos por otra sentencia, cuando se haya fundado en prueba cuya falsedad se haya declarado en fallo posterior firme, cuando la sentencia sea consecuencia de prevaricato,cuando se demuestre que la sentencia es ilegítima por prueba ilegal , cuando después de la condena sobrevengan o se descubran nuevos hechos o nuevos elementos de prueba, cuando una ley posterior declare que no es punible el hecho .

La acusación o imputación es el cargo que se formula ante autoridad competente contra persona o personas determinadas, por considerarlas responsables de un delito o falta, con el objeto de que se le aplique la sanción prevista.
QUERELLA: Se trata del ofendido que a su voluntad, en tiempo oportuno, toma parte en el proceso penal y se constituirá como parte acusadora, convirtiéndose en parte del procedimiento, lo que significa que el querellante puede actuar, pedir prueba o presentar recursos.
ACCIÓN CIVIL RESARCITORIA: en el hecho punible no sólo se origina una responsabilidad penal, sino que también puede dar lugar a una responsabilidad civil, incluyendo al imputado o a un tercero. La acción civil debe ser incluida dentro de la acción penal, en tiempo oportuno, para reclamar daños y perjuicios.

Con la resiente ley de protección de datos en Costa Rica (Ley n.º 8968) , los datos personales de acceso restringido y datos sensibles son protegidos, por ende las personas tienen derecho a como se manejan sus datos personales por parte de personas físicas o jurídicas, a nivel publico o privado y por ende quienes descantan esa protección violan la ley y merecen la denuncia y la sanción.
